Visit Shooting the Light by Richard Pelletier

smoke tinted moon

Century old sentry of Ballard.
Watching and cycling like a giant telescope looking for
secrets hidden from our stinging eyes.
Pointing at tinged moon reddened
as if from eclipse
or newly risen,
yet high in the sky is
besmirched by smoke from fires miles away.

You witness this season's records,
minor perhaps, compared to
summers still to come as our planet warms.
